About
3xs Web Engineering is my service that is dedicated to solving your online application/SAAS, development and maintenance needs. I love to code, love to problem solve and
can professionally handle an impressive list of tasks involved in the construction of online applications.
In high school I took my first programming paid job developing a small business website and have been working in this industry ever since. Formally trained at the University of South Australia in Computer Science and Multimedia which provided me with a firm foundation in software engineering, media and graphic design. This educating merged seamlessly with my natural problem-solving, analytical and creative abilities. In my early years as a developer my talents with programming and graphic design was highly advantageous, propelling my career before the phrase ‘Frontend Developer’ even existed.
Starting with this core skill-set I've maintained a career in the industry for over 26 years. During this time I have shifted into full SAAS and applications development. I now boast a large skill set rivalled by few with decades of practical and professional experience. This incorporates a full range of disciplines required for the development and maintenance of online software/applications. From client proposals and requirements, application architecture design planning/documentation, database/server management, development, time management, team management, deployment, UI/UX, maintenance, the list goes on.
Many of my clients find this advantageous for the simple fact that I am capable of handling the work of multiple individuals autonomously with quality and prompt communication. Putting clients at ease while producing quality results adhering to budgets. With my ability to handle large scale applications, I have yet been forwarded a request from anyone that I have not been able to fulfil. As I say “The bigger the challenge the better.”.
As a successful freelancer with excellent communication skills, I eliminate many of the discrepancies between clients/owners/managers and the IT experts in charge of developing their vision. I can connect with clients, understand what they are looking for, then explain complicated concepts/details in a way that is relevant and easy to understand. This is especially helpful when catering for people with little IT experience. With a keen eye for detail, I strive to advise clients on important details that they may have overlooked or did not realise.
So whether you need a SAAS designed and built, online business advice, planning/documentation, someone to lead a team or be a team player, reach out and get in contact. With 26 years experience I’m aware of issues that you are most likely to encounter and their solutions. You're not just hiring an architect
/engineer, but a professional with experience in all the disciplines required for the planning, production and running of digital online systems and services.
There is a tonne of coding technologies, framework, libraries, plugins and APIs I have used over
the course of my career, far too many for me to remember. I've listed what I can recall and feel is relevant.

Over the course of my career I have been involved in the production of hundreds of digital products.
Rather than list products where I was marginally involved in, I have included relevant examples where I have played a major parts in the development (sometimes the sole developer).
Slides have been created by merging screenshots together. These screenshots were taken during my time with the product. Websites and systems tend to change over time so the live versions may have been altered.
Arbit Rage Bot Platform
Arbit Rage Bot Platform
From: 2024 - Serviced Duration: 288 days
The rise in crypto technologies have opened up many new unique opportunities for crypto trading.
Smart contracts now allow software to analyse markets and conduct trades, allowing bots to take advantage of arbitrage opportunities without human interaction.
This is the idea behind Arbit Rage Bot Platform (ABRP).
A trading application used to hunt for arbitrage opportunities between various DEFI exchanges on multiple blockchains.
This software is run locally via Command Line Interface (CLI) from the clients machine to pull data from the blockchain and analyse.
Written in RUST and SOl this is a multithreaded system which pull information from multiple places (APIs, Graph Protocol) as well as listening to third party network nodes via web sockets.
It maintains the health of all connection and dynamically manages them based on the information received from the network.
It will then make trades with the information acquired based on the desired settings and terms of the owner.
Note this CLI based software and hence screenshots are not provided.
Moving forward in this project the plan is to develop a frontend user interface for communication with the ActiX server
so users can the inspect current status and browse historical records.
Breeze Connect
Breeze Connect
From: 2021 - Serviced Duration: 3 years and 39 days
Breeze Connect is an online portal that allows users to manage their registered customers/clients communication networks. It a powerful online application providing the facilities for setting, management and tweaking of existing networks as well as the creation and provisioning of new networks. Comprised of a vast array of online tools that make process as easy and streamlined as possible. The portal is linked into many other 3rd parties all around the world aiming to simplify the process as well as adhering to the business rules of Leader Systems based out of Australia.
My task was to enter an existing team and take control the development situation. Breeze Connect had a shaky start where it has already gone through various foreign software houses and various developers, yet the project was still not off the ground. Leader needed someone with the knowledge and experience required to come on board, take control of the situation and deliver a working product to ship to market. Which is exactly the role I took and now Breeze Connect is live supporting a team of employees who manage and maintain the customer base. I was the sole developer of the project both front and back end, UI design, documentation and maintenance. The application connects to multiple APIs, is fully unit tested with front-end and back-end frameworks. During my involvement It considered one of the premium communication networking management portals in Australia.
Koala is an Australian company that providers furniture via their online shop front with presence in Australia and Japan. At the time of writing, they are expanding into Korea. Koala needed some immediate help to take pressure of their newly formed team by keeping their current website running business as usual for both the Australian and Japanese version of the website. Koala’s plan was to rebuild their web store from the ground-up while maintaining their existing sites in parallel.
My task was to join to new team and become familiar with the current sites where I became part of a team that continued maintaining the existing websites while the main team was to start development on the new site. This involved general maintenance, adding new features and products, re-skinning the site for sales, bug management and other relevant tasks for the day to day running of an online business. Mainly using Vue JS/ JavaScript, bit of Python and interacting/interfacing with a variety of third party services.

Neokyo is a site that acts as the middleman for people looking to purchase goods online from Japan. It offers a variety of services such as an automated bidding system, storage of goods, combined postage, among many others. My involvement started with the clients need to develop a version 2 of the business software. To improves on its design and incorporate many new advanced features.
This job required my full skill set, from technical documentation and project planning, UI/UX, some graphic design, working in a team with a variety of technologies. The challenge with this site was working with a team that was very new to online development, designing an application that contained much advanced and complicated logic.

Webinar Ninja is an online 'do it all' webinar platform based out of Sydney, Australia. Filled features and tools that enables members to create webinars, market their material, interact with users and other features useful in the world of online webinars. The application boast a large following of members and users from all over the world.
WebinarNinja has gone through 4 versions before I became involved with the project. The owners were not happy with the current application and hence I was commissioned to totally re-engineer the software. Bringing it to the next level to create webinar ninja V5. This journey started with the CEO, a Graphic/UI designer and me, where it grew from there. I oversaw the technical development and production of the new version, complete documentation and development of the web application side of the software, management of team members, division of tasks, development and many other tasks. During my involvement, WebinarNinja was considered one the most successful online startups at the time.
An American startup business called 'Favorite Eats' required a new online portal system for their clients.
Favorite Eats is a loyalty based discount system where customers interact with a tablet at the cashier used to track their spending,
offer discounts and other benefits. In short it is a loyalty based discount system.
I was tasked with the work of creating an online portal for businesses to control the loyalty system and access the data that Favorite Eats collects from the businesses clients. This portal included different level of users, various reward features and many other ways that businesses could interact with the information collected.
I was approached by Gaia Nutrition, a German Company who was in urgent need of an online tool facilitating data entry for their new online system. The data entry personnel were ready to go with large amounts of information ready to be added to their system. For this reason the tool needed to be quick, reliable and easy to use and hence 'Recipe Ninja' was born.
Recipe Ninja was developed by me in order to cover the clients requirements. It is mainly an Angular JS application built on a Laravel framework, I also fully designed the logo. Using Angular JS provided quicker response times enabling Recipe Ninja to be time effective to use and streamlined the process for the data entry personnel.
Zom Deck is a portable card game that is that was under development. I have been tasked with the design work for the first working version.
This includes all the graphic design, icons, interface design, artwork and formatting all assets to be print ready.
It is currently in very early development stages and the examples are current development versions.
Custom dice and box design/artwork will also be required. These examples have been created with a mix of graphic design and 3D modelling.
Papalona guru is one of the more unique and challenging websites I have built. Not because it was technically difficult but due to the subject matter. Based out of France, the client comes from a spiritual profession and wanted a web system to help people tap into the quantum force. Yes it may sound strange, yet this is what I was presented with by my client who knew very little about web site technologies. Converting the clients dream system into a practical website was challenging when exploring ways to cover all objectives in a logical and technological way.
This system is another example of a site built entirely by me. The client is also an artist so he had a heavy hand in the style of the site and its content. Such as UI, butterflies, logo, colours, etc. The site is fluid responsive built on the Laravel PHP framework using a host of technologies such as Twitter Bootstrap, Angular JavaScript, PHP image magik, etc. There is a tonne of imagine manipulation logic in this system with random image elements being dynamically generated.
A job that used all my skills. From project planning, programming and development, design and illustration, server admin, etc. Aussie Housemates was a web system for a startup business aimed at the Australian market. This site has many advanced features such as dynamic image upload, email relay system, cookie and account favourite tracking, complicated typeahead and location predictions, distance search, full optimised and responsive for mobile devices, advanced user interface, etc . The system also uses many technologies and skills ranging from bootstrap to RESTful APIs.
Much work was done beyond the web system. Tasks such as logo design, business cards, email signatures, online and print marketing, stickers, etc.
Who Adelaide started as a facebook page where people could post items to sell.
This got quite popular and soon they had extended to multiple pages to cater for the community.
I was commissioned to develop a new site which would remove the focus away from facebook and bring everyone together on a custom built application.
The base of the brief was that it needed to be a mixture of Gum tree (kijiji) and facebook, being a complete social media package. It was not an easy task and an advanced complicated system was required.
The site was entirely built by me although the client had a heavy hand in directing the graphic design and development of the system.
Bioguard a supplier of pool cleaning products; required an interactive, animated and track-able online training application.
The idea is for employers to forward new staff to the training application in order to provide training on Bioguard products.
I was contracted by Polvo Digital Arts (formally know a Perroud Digital Arts) to design and program the application in
Flash animation around the clients instructions and budget.
Being provided the graphics and animations, the result was a mixture of various technologies to provide the required product.
The flash animation was dependent on consistent updated information from the database.
It comprised of a login system within the flash, consistent transfer for data between the flash and database that drove the applications and the animations.
Scores were saved and certificated were issued to users.
Through Motown I was contracted for the development of Kirra tours new site. Because of their range, variations of products and customer requirements; a powerful and advanced site needed to be created. Containing complicated matrices, data processing and piping of information. This was all created in house with PHP server side script interfacing with a DOT NET framework via XML.
Following the development of this site Kirra tour separated their business into Kirra Tours and Kirra Holidays. I was also responsible for the conversion of the site to the new Kirra Tours skin. This is the same site I built with its new skin with a few edits and new features.
Within SA water's new multimillion dollar building there was a need for a media distributing system for the new learning centre.
The learning centre was in interactive area with various displays, projections and kiosks.
To control all the content an online system was needed that would integrate multiple technologies.
Commissioned by Motown I built MoCast used to run Waterweb which was to be the media distributing system.
This included all framework, the methods how different technologies will communicate and organising all business logic/process flow/input/output/etc.
I was required to plan, design, document and create this complicated system.
The Waterweb system enables users to take digital media, upload it, create and organise the assets and then schedule them for display.
Assets can be targeted to be displayed on various devices at certain times.
This is all done via a web interface accessible anywhere in the world and includes the ability to design interactive content with multiple choices
for the kiosks.
Motown commissioned me to create an animation known as 'InfoWall' for SA Water (South Australia Water).
The InfoWall was to be displayed and featured within SA Waters new learning centre.
I was responsible for the design, style and development of the entire project.
SA Water required a visual Bloomberg style animation displaying various data and information about Adelaide's reservoirs.
The result was a complex and dynamic animation required to facilitate all of SA Water needs.
Features included:
Very high res and detailed animation created in flash. Displayed on large overhead LCD TV's.
Multiple animation in tandem.
Data saved daily in an Excel file and imported then extracted dynamically into InfoWall.
Imported data drives animation and changes its outcome.
External images downloaded and displayed.
CMS (content management system) enables users to change content.
InfoWall will update automatically while in animation without stopping.
Designed to run 24/7 without stopping or pausing.
Displayed on output devices by the use of Scala technology.
Plevin and associates organise large conferences where various experts can participate.
I was contracted to build a custom system that would allow them to automate much of the labor intensive work involved with organising all the applicants for multiple conferences.
The client has a tight budget for such a project and the project had to be completed within the bounds of this budget.
The system involved multiple users where authors would submit work then varying levels of administration and reviewers.
All working together on the one system that can handle multiple conference and multiple sets of employees per conference at one time.
During a time of need Rapid Induct was looking for a replacement graphic designer to ensure a strict deadline was met.
Their previous employer was sick and it was critical that the work was done on time.
I provided this support and established a foot hold on the dead line by easily sliding into the roll.
Many disciplines in graphic designed were required to reach the desired results.
There was no time for inductions or for any introductions, I was required to hit the ground running.
Many late nights and extended work times were required to meet the important time schedule.
The deadline was reached and being pleased with quality and effectiveness of my work, Rapid Induct extended the contract.
The extension incorporated other tasks that Rapid Induct had been looking for a professional solution too.
This included, among other things, more flash work, the design and development of their corporate website and corporate brochure.
Once completed I was offered full time work however I had other commitments at the time and was unable to continue work on a full time basis.
IDA Call was a business based on a patented online idea. The business was started with small success but never took off.
At the time I was contracted to oversee all operations for the website and to help clients with technical support.
Much work was done, the design was very crisp and clean and it is a shame it is no longer being used.
Included are some screen shot over the UI for the interface all built with HTML and much javascript.
Other businesses / sites I have been involved with in the past.

Testimonials
"Shane is a diligent, disciplined, and detail-oriented software developer. He strives to comprehend every aspect of the development tasks he undertakes. He has shown remarkable skills, creativity, and professionalism while working with our team at Breeze Connect and has made a significant contribution to our growth and success. We strongly endorse him for development work."
Ben Klason Director of Enterprise & Marketing - Leader Computers (Breeze Connect)
"Shane came into Koala to help us out at a really manic and high-pressure time in our business. And I'm really appreciative of his work. He hit the ground running on our fairly mature nodejs ecommerce website codebase, which used integrations to Shopify for commerce engine and Contentful for CMS. Meanwhile the Koala Tech team was in the process of building a new website platform from the ground up. On any given day Shane was doing the work of Software Engineer, Solution Designer, Product Manager and Business Analyst. And the thing I really noticed was that I could go days and days not thinking about the existing live websites, because Shane had it taken care of. Thanks for helping us through that crazy time, Shane!"
Andrew Sladen Director, Engineering - Koala
"I can attribute the growth of our business to some key hires that we have made in our business. Our lead developer Shane has shaped the direction of our software company, WebinarNinja, in a way that allows us to be world class."
Omar Zenhom CEO - WebinarNinja
"I have been working with Shane for a couple of years now. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field. He was extremely committed to the project and was always thinking ahead to spot an eventual problem. He also was able to tackle some very complex tasks by himself. Last important point that was he regularly improve the system by upgrading the current code. I would definitely hire again and highly recommend him."
Mathia Bosset CEO - Neokyo
"Shane was a pleasure to work with. We chose him because on paper he appeared to be very experienced, and he did not disappoint! He was flexible and did a great job of figuring things out and pushing ahead despite a lack of detailed specs from us. I'd work with Shane again in a heartbeat."
Spencer Lewis Project Lead - Favorite Eats
"Shane is not your average coder that you would expect. He won't write a single line of code before he fully grasps what you want to achieve which prevents time consuming iterations and costly re-writes of code!
Shane takes responsibility for what he does and will frequently outperform your expectations! His feedback and responsiveness is top-notch and communication is a breeze since he's a native english speaker!"
Benjamin Wulff IT Manager - Gaia Nutrition
"I hired Shane at the point I was disillusioned with my existing developer. Shane inspired renewed confidence with his honesty and communicative consulting style. This contributed significantly to my very unique project. I have found him a trustworthy, conscientious and quick worker. He set my project back on the track and has restored my faith in the IT profession."
Mark Dolamore Director - Papolona.guru
"Excellent results, on time and on budget .. will be continuing working with Shane on other projects in the future."
Dallas Wood Director - The Web Factor
"His input to and interest in the undertaking was outstanding and many times beyond usual expectation and requirement."
